INSPIRED TALKS: THE GOSPEL OF SWAMI VIVEKANANDA / 2nd Part – Dr. Sushil Rudra. 12.09.2020

Swami Vivekananda, as a World Teacher, taught his desciples the very essence of ancient Indian spiritual knowledge and philosophy . It’s not his bookish knowledge , but his deep conceptions which he gained from his highly intuitive power and contemplation. Obviously, his vigorous reading and learning of Indian scriptures influenced him and above all, the life and teaching of Sree Ramkrishna made him a wonderful world teacher to teach Vedanta and Hindu religion to the Western desciples . He is the first Indian Guru who preaches it and abled to establish the Bharatchetana ( Sanatan Dharma) in West. Vivekananda spent six weeks at Thousand Island Park along with his students and “manufactured” some “Yogis” by the teaching of spiritual thoughts which was collected and edited by Miss S. E. Waldo and published from Sree Ramkrishna Advaita Ashram in 1909 by the name of ” Inspired Talks “. It’s dedicated to Swami Brahmananda, the another disciple of Sree Ramkrishna. I have already started discussion on it and hope you have read the introduction chapter last week. I have depicted there the demographic invironment in which Swami Vivekananda was deeply attracted and it was a superb place for a spiritual seekers and nature lovers. Swamiji was highly pleased being spent here with this marvelous natural sorroundings. Occasionally he became absorbed in meditation which is referred here in this memoir ” Inspired Talks” We are greatful to Miss Waldo who took notes of Swamiji’s valuable divine talks .

To me, Inspired Talks, is the gist of our ancient spiritual treasure from Vedas to Upanishads, Bhoktiyoga – Rajyoga to Karmayoga to Gita , Vedanta and other philosophical and spiritual doctrines , but ultimately it is the very essence of true Hindu religion which is to be followed and worked out by our Hinduism lover country men . Everyone should read and follow this book as a Hindu’s Bible . No Political vendetta or begotry is expressed in this book . The true Hindu religion and its generosity, expansion and holiness has been described herein. Every word has come from the very depth of a divine soul.

This book is a must guide to the spiritual seekers . It’s language is very poetical . Each and every word has come not from the brain , but from the very depth of heart of a real monk who was enlightened first and then preached true religion.

Swami Vivekananda is truely a World Teacher. He knows that his students are all from the Western families. Their upbringing is from the Christian faith and environment. So he started the classes with Bible. Like Krishna, Buddha, Sree Ramkrishna , Jesus Christ is also a great incarnation of God. The absolute can not be known; we can’t know the Father, only the Son. Jesus, the special manifestation of the Absolute, is known and knowable. Swamiji told that only they can see the Absolute through the ” tint of humanity”, through Christ. Swamiji’s views on Bible is unique. According to him, the first five verses of John is the essence of Christianity, each verse is full of the profoundest philosophy. He taught them about the nature to whom the Hindu calls “Maya”, the manifestation of God. It’s the power of God.

In the twenty- ninth verse Christ told us the way to become perfect. God became Christ to show man his true nature. That we are also God . We are human coverings over the Divine; but as the divine man, Christ and we are one. Swamiji explained about the divinity of Christ . In Christ, there’s no imperfection . He is the incarnation of God, who has not forgotten His divinity and is well aware of that . Swamiji stupendously narrates the role of these divine men . He told that they come to this world as an actors whose play is over, but who, after their work is done, return to please others. This great Ones are untouched by aught of earth; they assume our form and our limitations for a time in order to teach us ; but in reality they are never limited, they are ever free. Swamiji experienced all these things to his Guru , Sree Ramkrishna . Ramkrishna was born in a poor family. He did not have any traditional schooling. His attitude was like a common people. But he was a divine man or incarnation of God. Today he is worshipped by all , not only in India, but aboard also. In his own time , he was not so regarded in such a way. Even he has been neglected by his reletives . They couldn’t understand that he is the incarnation of God. He came to teach us . No imperfection was within him . He is untouched by aught of earth .

Swamiji’s teaching influenced him students. He always insisted on the purity of heart . We should overcome all the limitations. We must find that we are beyond both evil and good. Really good and evil are one and are in our own mind . Be perfectly free . Swamiji gave a beautiful example of the two – One iron chain , and another golden chain. Evil is the iron chain, and good is the golden chain. Both are chains . Be free from both of the chains . Lay hold of the golden chain to loosen the hold of the iron one, then throw both away. He said: ” The thorn of evil is in our flesh; take another thorn from the same bush and extract the first thorn ; and then throw away both and be free….

He always emphasis on the sacrifice. Always teaches us to take possession of a giver. ” Give everything and look for no return.”

THE TEMPLE

– Dr. Sushil Rudra

I never forget the tiny Temple , not even our Durga Bari, which was near to my village home . Sometimes I reach there in conscious or sub – conscious mind , feel those days as present , vivid . From our main gate it’s two minutes to reach there at Durga Bari, and in the right direction a few metre after a big Bamboo Forest which was ever dark , even in the sunny day. Just opposite of it standing side by side gigantic mango and jackle fruits trees, there lived so many monkeys – roamed jumping from one branch to another, once while I, along with my brother went there to pick up mangoes , a big tail of a mankey touched to my head and I became afraid of and ran away from there . A narrow road was in between the Bamboo Forest and the Mango garden which straightly goes to Charmakar area . Two or three families lived there . We couldn’t go there because of bad smell, but on the way to this area , there’s a tiny Kali Temple which was very living, a small door to enter into this Temple, a small stone is worshipped as Mother Kali , always filled with flowers, water and red Sindoor . At the last day of Chayittra the Gajan festival and the puja of Serpent deity Mother Manosa used to start. It was a grand and stupendous for the communities of sorrounding areas. Throughout the first month of Bengali new year the people assembled in the premise of Durga Bari for spiritual songs which is called Kirton with Khol – Kartal and being sung reached to Kali Temple . After singing for a while again returned to the Durga Bari . We saw and enjoy this every year in my childhood days. Perhaps it is still going on in its own space , but I feel a great attraction of these eventful days. I have traveled so many places and visit a lots of grandeur Temples , but couldn’t feel such attraction there as I still get peace to feel my tiny , discoloured remote Temple of my childhood days. Modern gargious Temples and its monks are unable to give me pleasure and peace , I need my little temple and my feelings and emotions of childhood days .

Yoga Can Cure Your Depressed Mind

Yoga Mundra: The Ancient Healing process

Durgapur , West Bengal

INTRODUCTION :

I’m Dr. Sushil Rudra , a newly senior citizen of India serving different Higher Educational Institution in India ( mainly in W. Bengal & Rajasthan, Kota ) now getting busy in blogging and other social works. But still I don’t give up my teaching and doing my job as a guest professor in a local government college in Durgapur city. What I want to express here in this blog is my energy which I have acquired from yoga practice.

MODERN TIMES & ITS IMPACT :

In modern times every human being is too much busy in household chores and in professional activities. Most often we become tired and worried . Our housewives to office workers, from students to school bus driver to daily passengers to home sarvent , everyone is in mental stress. No one can avoid it in this busy world . I think that our ancestors were not so busy like us . They had no busy schedule to attend in time. I am saying it because most of them were business man or cultivators or the owners of the lands . During draught or floods they had to face a lot of problems, otherwise they were happier than us . They enjoyed their lives in full swing. Moreover there was joint family and not like us in micro family system. So they had the umbrellas on their heads.

NEED OF YOGA IN STUDENT LIFE :

But we’re 3 to 4 in total. Husband and wife are engaged mostly in their profession and the children or childrens are either in school or spending their times in isolation. Maybe there governance to look after them. From their childhood they have been facing a lot of stresses . Generally today’s parents admitted their children to English medium schools . And we know it that the syllabus is overburdened . From morning 7. 30 to 2.00 pm they’re engaged there. In cities or towns there are jam at returning time. Therefore It takes much time to return home. After refreshments and lunch they are not given any time to rest for a while. It starts tuition from one teacher to another for weekly test and monthly test . We never face such kind of pressure in our learning. The cause is we have to wait for 6 months for half yearly examination and another 5 and half months for final. We have enjoyed much space and librarty during our school or higher education. But nowadays the scenario is different. Facing regular basis test boys and girls are confined to their learning and have no time to get free and they don’t get any opportunity being engaged in any other hobbies . Hobbies can make stressless anyone within a short period. Just like regular Yoga practice can add extra energy and enthusiasm to their daily activities. Specially it makes calm and tranquil to your mental state.

YOGA AND HOUSEWIVES :

Housewares or Working mothers are also facing mental health troubles due to their busy schedules. So how do you overcome this herculean tasks and at the same time stresses . First of all you should be punctual and try to finish your work in time. Do a routine of daily works and follow up it in scheduled time. But in all times it not happens . We can’t complete it as per rutine. And become stressed. In every family housewives and mostly working woman having faced long time stress turns into a mental hardles and ailment. Some are being diagnosed with the Doctor take medication, and most of them are not diagnosed and face depression . But only medication can’t relieve you from stress and anxiety. It’s Yoga practice that not only can keep you aloof from anxiety and stress , but also make your mental health to be sound and strengthful enough to face any kind of abnormal pressures.

YOGA FOR SENIORS

And lastly the seniors like me who have no other sources of income from any work. We try to be get engagement anywhere to spend time . Just as I am engaged in teaching in a college near to my home as a guest professor, but majority of seniors are not given such kind of engagement. So spend their times in isolation . Either in home before the Television or in nearest teastall along with the friends. But due to Corona pandemic lock down it has been stopped. So what I do for myself is to practice some free hand exercises and also some yogas and breathing exercises or Pranayama.

How To Start Your Day

First of all, you remember your parents and give salute to them . You can also salute any great men like Swami Vivekananda or any God you believe. Don’t think any negative thoughts after raising from sleep. Try to see your surroundings beautiful. Then washing and brushing your teeths and face take a glass of worm water and start some free hand exercises and then ” Suryanamaskar” . It’s a collection of 6/7 yogas must perform everyday for your overall health of body and mind . I will show you today in this blog. Before starting it , you have to put on fresh and soft dresses, not any tight germents.

Surya Namaskar Asana :

Get Ready : Stand up keeping the legs apart at about two feet distance. Let the hands hang loosely at your sides. Keep the head straight. And look directly in front and breathe normally.

STEPS: * Inhale slowly and raise both hands towards sky, in sidewise circular movement. Time it in such a way that by the time your hands come up, you also complete inhaling. When the hands are up , the palms should be turned forward and the arms should be in a parallel position.

* Now hold the breath and stay in that position for about six to eight seconds. While holding your breath, it’s important that you keep the upper part of the body quite loose , and the lower part rigid and hard . Bend your head down towards the ground . Your head should be between the two arms. Hands should be loosely hanging as far down as they can easily go . If you can bend easily, put the palms on the floor or just touch the floor. It’s important that you are not straining yourself or forcing your body excessively for making the bend . Please do only as much as you can do very comfortably and with ease.

* Bring both hands on the legs and inhale and come up in the standing position. While coming up let the palms pass over and touch the legs upward. Inhale slowly in such a way that by the time you have returned to the standing position and finished inhaling. Now you have completed one round of Suryanamaskar Asana.

Practice this Asana daily four times. Not more than that.

BENEFITS OF YOGA

What are the benefits ?

A) Performing this Asana has several benefits. It activates all the glands of the endocrinal system in a mild way . Because of this internal activation, the Pancreas, adrenal, thyroid, pituitary and some other glands begin to secrete their respective hormones in a normal way . Since the main trouble with persons of diabetic disorder results from the malfunctioning of the pancreas, this Asana corrects its defects by activating it.

B ) This Asana has also good effect on the stomach, spine , lungs and chest. Various types of disorders can be cured by practicing this Asana. As there is reverse circulation of blood during this Asana , it invigorates the facial tissues, the central nervous system and all the organs of the upper part of the body. So try to practice it regularly. Within 7 days you’ll feel the result of it. To be continued...

Nature is our best friend

The Dark More Than Night- Dr. S Rudra

Durgapur, W. Bengal . 25.07.20

We, the modern human beings are now passing through an unexpected and unnatural situations which has been experiencing most of the inhabitants of the World. Hope my readers might be same in opinion with me . Obviously it’s Covid19 that spreading in every corner of the continents and sub continents. We are fighting against it individually, socially, and above all scientifically. Government has taken so many measures from the inception of break out this fatal Virus. We have lost so many people in India and also aboard. Many people died in this virus . And many more are in dying condition. They’re not getting works , some has lost their services, some are being given half remuneration for the full month. Schools, Colleges, Universities are closed for uncertain periods. Students, teachers, non – teaching staff are almost in home . Only medical staff , specially the Doctors, Nurses, Para – Medics are engaged in this pandemic. They’re battling day and night to cure the covid patients. A few of them had died being attacked in this contagious viruses leaving their offspring, spouse and family. Now these people are facing the dark moments. Even they didn’t get opportunity to look last time to their beloved one during funeral.

Scientists are trying to make vaccine to get rid of this pandemic. Now we’re maintaining social distancing and always trying to be hygienic . Boys and girls are confined in home. Seniors are also same condition. They couldn’t go outside to get some energies. The relationships between the people has been disrupted. Children has lost their smiles. Scarcely you have to see the people laughing. In fact, we are in dark deep sea where there is no shores to reach and spend a peaceful day.

Perhaps One day vaccine will be discovered , not from a single scientist of a country, but from so many scientists of different countries. That day the world might calm and peaceful , but we don’t get return to the warriors who faught against it . We can’t remove their family’s pain and suffering. The newly married couples lost their husbands or wives. This happened in Bengal some days ago.

This situation prevails not only Bengal or India , it’s happening throughout the World. I am not above it . As a senior citizen I am to spend my maximum times in home. I have a little job in a college as a guest professor with very low remuneration. But it’s now stopped to go there. Online class and online test ( internal) completed. So no worries for work. But have worried for money. As ill luck would have it , the W. Bengal Government did not give any pension. Even nor did I get any facilities from my education department as then CPM government and their representative was against me. Because they thought that my family is not supporters of the Party.

Next Government comes , the new minister being motivated gave the permission, but the DPI and others were the supporters of the previous government ,so they opposed. I have only way that’s judicial help. I have battled for 25 years and won . But still I didn’t get my arears. So it’s not only my pain , my family too. I am now helpless, sinking in deep dark wave of the sea . No one come forward to save this sinking man .

I will open up my pains with you all my beloved readers. Recently , during this lock down situation my pain and suffering heightened in peak . I used to spend my life which I have possessed. But it’s my evil luck when I had to face some cheaters . This incident is lika a drama . I will discuss it before you . There are two causes behind it.

I spend my time in online Facebook, Twitter, linkedin, WhatsApp messenger etc . One one such friend proposed me to start a business. What this business is? She told that their company is in need of herbal oil for pharmaceutical purpose. She gave me two addresses of the supplier, one is Sunita Sharma and another is Aarya Choudhary. She sent me the mobile nos and email. I contracted them. They sent me Quotation. Next that introducer told me that company wants to test the oil. We will purchase 10 litters of oil – half half . She told me one day that she had sent money for 5 litres, you send for 5. Practically I have no such amount of money. I took loans from bank by giving my wife’s ornament. I have sent it. After some days the oils by currier reached to me. I don’t know what types of oil it’s. At last they sent a mail from their company ( –false) that we have deposited money USD 550000 , in PNC Bank. Sent me a username, user ID , Account. You will get money when you pay bank 5 lakhs.

That time my daughter discovered that it’s a false website. I have lost several lakhs rupees. I have no money in bank . Even I am to deposit money for loans of 2.5 lakhs.

So I am totally bankrupt. My wife, daughter is in great shock. I have no word to give them peace.

I wrote previously that I am describing this situation for two causes. One , being an educated person I am trapped in cheating by some people recently, they’re mostly from Delhi and Mumbai. So please don’t trust online relationship. Secondly, I write for my readers . They did not get any blog posts from me during this 3/4 months. If any well wisher help me in regarding this matter I can provide them all particulars of the cheaters.

Thank you . I hope my readers will understand me.

SWAMI VIVEKANANDA’S MASSAGE TO HIS COUNTRYMEN

Dr. Sushil Rudra Durgapur , W. Bengal.

Introduction:

India has produced so many great men like Rabindranath Tagore, Mahatma Gandhi, Netaji Subhash Bose and so on, but Swami Vivekananda is regarded as the greatest personality of all times. To speak the truth, he is always regarded worldwide as the spiritual teacher and the preacher of universal brotherhood between East and West . Swami ji never thought about himself. Motherland and its people was his first priority, but to him ,the people of all countries in this World was his brothers and sisters.

SWAMI VIVEKANANDA’S CHICAGO LECTURE : In the inaugural lecture at Chicago in the World Religious Conference , he addressed to the spectators of America as the ” Sisters and Brothers of America ” which mesmerized the people of Western World and Vivekananda became famous in American society . Later he continuously gave lectures in America and Europe about Indian philosophy and Hindu Religion which is of five thousands years old and which is of great profound in knowledge of the ancient monks of India.

¶¶ VEDANTA IN THE WEST :

While Swami Vivekananda spreading this fabulous ancient knowledge of India in the West , the intellectuals of the West moved by it . The universal teaching and profound learning of the Swami made a deep impression upon the minds of the American intelligentsia. Not only American intellectuals , Great Orientalist ,Professor Max Muller of Oxford University , E. T. Sturdy , Roman Rolland, Christopher Isherwood, Poll Dawson of Germany , Jules Bois of France , Arnold Toyenbi – all these distinguished persons were also influenced by him .

¶¶ SWAMI JI’S MESSAGE :

What was his massage to the West ? Or what he told there that they became influenced by him? September 11, 1893 The Monday was a special day to Swami Vivekananda. This day is remarkable in the history of mankind , because , Swami Vivekananda uttered some words which is the key of World peace. Modern world has been highly enlightened and enriched through the progress of science and technology . The entire world has been changed into a big city . Through technological development and massive progress of science , we are getting a lot of amenities . Medical science widens longevity of men’s survival . But Communalism, bigotry, religious fundamentalism, terrorism and nasty politics are alwa hiys making this world into a Hell. The battles of Orthodox religious fundamentalism, Low and high caste problems , political differentiation , corruption in all spheres of the societies , vandalism etc are the burning problems of the country like India and world as well . In such an environment and circumstances , the path which Swami Vivekananda proclaimed , that’s the need of the time. What he advised and remarked that very day ! Let’s try to memorize his utterances.

¶¶ HINDUISM AS THE MOTHER OF RELIGION :

Vivekananda presented there Hinduism as the mother of religions – a religion which had taught the world both tolerance and universal acceptance. He quoted two beautiful, illustrative passages taken from the scriptures of Hinduism: ” As the different streams having their sources in different places all mingle their water in the sea , so O Lord, the different paths which men take , through different tendencies, various though they may appear, crooked or straight, all lead to Thee.”

” Whosever comes to Me , through whatsoever form , I reach him ; all men are struggling through paths which in the end lead to Me. ”

It was only a short speech, but its spirit of universality, its fundamental earnestness and broadmindedness completely captivated the whole assembly. There were other Hindu delegates who stood for societies or churches or sect but the Swami Vivekananda , who belonged to no sect but rather to India as a whole, proclaimed the universality of religious truths and the sameness of the Goal of all religious realizations. In the course of his illuminating addresses, Swami Ji placed before the audience the cardinal truths of Vedanta, the universal religion of humanity.

¶¶

UNIVERSAL RELIGION:

Again he distinctively uttered : ” If there is ever to be a universal religion, it must be one which will have no location in place or time ; which will be infinite, like the God it will preach , and whose sun will shine upon the followers of Krishna and Christ, on saint and sinners alike; which will not be Brahminic or Buddhistic , Christian or Mohammedan , but the some total of all these , and still have infinite space for development ; which in its catholicity will find a place for every human being, from the lowest grovelling savage not far removed from the brute to the highest man towering by the virtues of his head and heart almost above humanity. It will be a religion which will have no place for persecution or intolerance in its polity , which will recognize divinity in every man and woman and whose whole scope, whose whole force , will be centred in adding humanity to realize its own true , divine nature. Offer such a religion and all the nations will follow you…… The Christian is not to become a Hindu or a Buddhist, nor a Hindu or a Buddhist to become Christian. But each must assimilate the spirit of the others and yet preserve his individuality and grow according to his own law of growth.” He concluded the speech with alerting that the Parliament of Religions had shown to the world that holiness, purity, and charity were not the exclusive possession of any Church in the world and that every system had produced men and women of the most exalted character. In the face of this evidence, if anybody dreamt of the exclusive survival of his own religion and the destruction of others, he was to be pitied and told that upon the banner of every religion will soon be written, in spite of resistance: ‘ Help and not fight’, Assimilation and not Destruction’, Harmony and Peace and not Dissension’.

¶¶ VIBRANT WORDS OF SWAMI VIVEKANANDA

The effect of these mighty words was tremendous. The news of Swami Vivekananda’s unparalleled success poured into India very soon . Though the media of that time was not like today’s electronic media. But this fabulous news reached here through the famous newspaper of India . It was printed mostly in the Hindu , the noted newsprint, published from Madras ( Chennai). Swami Vivekananda was then world renowned spiritual teacher, great Indian monk , big orator and philosopher. Within few years he founded Ramakrishna Mission and math at Belur , near Kolkata for the service of mankind which is an eminent philanthropic organization .

¶¶ INDIA: HIS ULTIMATE GOAL :

However, in the midst of recognition of his genius, universal applause, and immense popularity, He was never for a moment forgetful of his duties to the sunken masses of India. On the very day of his triumph when he was invited by a man of great wealth and distinction to his home and lodged in a princely room fitted with luxury beyond anything he could conceive, instead of feeling happy in this splendid environment he was miserable. He could not sleep, pondering, in contrast, over India’s plight. The bed of down became to him a bed of thorns. He rolled down on the empty floor and in agony of his heart cried , ‘ O Mother, what do I care for name and fame when my motherland remains sunk in utmost poverty? Who will raise the masses in India? Who will give them bread ? Show me, O Mother, how can I help them .’

¶¶ VIVEKANANDA’S MISSION :

The great – hearted Vivekananda wrote inspiring letters to his disciples and admirers in India to stimulate their hearts into activity and a high pitch of patriotic fervour. — ” Gird up your loins , my boys,’ he once wrote, ” I am called by the Lord for this. The hope lies in you — in the meek , the lowly, but the faithful. Feel for the miserable and look up for help – it shall come.

Vivekananda not stopped there . He expressed his agony and suffering for this mission. Here we see his untiring efforts to remove the darkness of ignorance and the dearth of hunger of the poverty- stricken peoples of his motherland. He wrote : ” With a bleeding heart I have crossed half the world to this strange land seeking for help . The Lord will help me . I may perish of cold and hunger in this land, but I bequeath to you , young men, this sympathy, this struggle for the poor, the ignorant, the oppressed. Go down on your faces before Him and make a great sacrifice, the sacrifice of a whole life for them – these three hundred millions, going down and down everyday. Glory unto the Lord , we will succeed .”

¶¶ Vivekananda never forgot in the midst of luxury the primary idea of his mission – to save his people, to mobilize them to help him in his task by widening his appeal until it became the cause of the people, the cause of the poor and the oppressed of the motherland as well as the whole world.

¶¶ For the sake of this mission and particularly to serve the cause of his motherland he accepted the offer of a lecture bureau for a tour of the United States. He expressed his mission to India in some of his lectures which he delivered in Madras after returning from West . Here he gave an eloquent utterance to his massage to India in these lectures comprising ‘My Plan of Campaign’, The Mission of Vedanta’, and ‘The Future of India’. Swami Ji observed the problems of the India very deeply and prescribed the solution accordingly. ‘ Each nation ,like each individual’ he said , ‘ has one theme in this life , which is its centre , the principal note with which every other note mingles to form the harmony. If any nation attempts to throw off its national vitality , the direction which has become its own through the transmission of centuries, that nation dies .

¶¶. THE MUSIC OF NATIONAL LIFE :

In India religious life forms the centre , the keynote of the whole music of national life. Social reform has to be preached in India by showing how much more spiritual a life the new system will bring, and politics has to be preached by showing how much it will improve the one thing that the nation wants – its spirituality. Therefore before flooding India with socialistic or political ideas the land should first be deluged with spiritual ideas . The first work that demands our attention is that the most wonderful truths confined in our Upanishads, in our scriptures and Puranas , must be brought out from the books, the monasteries, and the forests and scattered broadcast over the land so that these truths may run like fire all over the country, from north to south , and east to west, from the Himalayas to Cape Comorin , from the Indus to the Brahmaputra.’

Vivekananda’s call reached every corner of our country . His love for motherland Inspired so many freedom fighters . Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose considered Swamiji as his spiritual Guru . Netaji wanted to initiate in renunciation and he went to Belur Math with this desire , but clairvoyant Swami Brahmananda, the then President of Ramkrishna Mission could envision his future and advised him that sannyasa was not his cup of tea , his love for the country would lead decidedly to the realm of politics where he would play massive role for the country’s emancipation.

However, not only Netaji , others freedom fighters , even Mahatma Gandhi to Dr. Radhakrishnan to Abul Kalam Azad , Present Prime Minister of India to Late Pranab Kumar Mukherjee, Ex President of India took and followed Vivekananda’s ideal, vision and mission in their activities.

That’s why, India government declared Swami Vivekananda’s birthday 12 January as an Youth Day .

Swamiji’s mission is still not fulfilled . Women education has been spread , but they are not safe at all in the society. Youths are in great fix as there are massive unemployment . Our country is going through a crucial time. Extremists problem, Unemployment, corruption in all sectors , political vendalism are the most important problem of our country. We see the lack of nationalism amongst the leaders . They should follow Swamiji’s teaching in order to change the scenerio and to develop our country.

SWAMI VIVEKANANDA ON NARADA-BHAKTI-SUTRA : THE PATH TO REACH DESTINATION

Swami Vivekananda in Meditation

Swami Vivekananda discussed about Narada Sutra in America in 1895. The main discussion was about the essence of Narada Bhakti.

THE SUTRAS :

The Sutras are :

1. Bhakti is intense love for God.

2. It is the nectar of love,

3. Getting which man becomes perfect, immortal, and satisfied for ever,

Explanation:

Swami Vivekananda’s love , Bhuddha’s love , Sree Ramkrishna’s love – all have no personal desire . Their selfless love is eternal.

Pure love makes a man perfect.

Radha & Krishna’s love is immortal.

Selfless love is immortal what we find in Krishna and Radha.

4. Getting which man desires no more, does not become jealous of anything, does not take pleasure in vanities,

5. Knowing which man becomes filled with spirituality, becomes calm , and finds pleasure only in God .

6. It can not be used to fill any desire , itself being the check to all desired.

7. Sannyasa is giving up both the popular and the spiritual forms of worship.

But it’s not for all. Sannyasa is the best means to achieve perfection , but it’s not for the common people. Remuneration is not possible for a man who has deep attractions in the worldly pleasure.

8. The Bhakti-Sannyasin is the one whose whole soul goes unto God , and whatever militates against love to God , he rejects.

9. Giving up all other refuge, he takes refuge in God.

10. Scriptures are to be followed as long as one’s life has not become firm.

11. Or else there is danger of doing evil in the name of liberty.

12.When love becomes established, even social forms are given up , except those which are necessary for the preservation of life.

13. There have been many definitions of love, but Narada gives these as the signs of love; When all thoughts, all words, and all deeds are given up unto the Lord, and the least forgetfulness of God makes one intensely miserable, then love has begun.

14. As the Gopis had it-

15. Because, although worshipping God as their lover , they never forgot his God- nature ;

16. Otherwise they would have committed the sin of unchastity.

17. This is the highest form of love, because there is no desire of reciprocity, which desire is in all human love.

It’s written in tenth to twelve century. Thirteenth century to fourteenth century was totally baren due to socio- political anarchism. So we don’t have any literature. Srikrishna kirtan Kavya of Boru Chandidas was the only Kavya in the first half of mediaeval period . It was written in fifteenth century. After the religious and social change made by Sri Chaitanya , We got a lot of Bengali literature like Vaishnava literature, Chatanya Jibani and so on.

¶¶ Along with other Eastern Indo-Aryan languages, Bengali evolved circa 1000- 1200 CE from Sanskrit and Magadhi Prakit . The local Apabhransa of the Eastern subcontinent, Purbi – Apabhransa or Abahatta, eventually evolved into regional dialects, which in turn formed three groups of the Bengali – Assmese languages, the Bihari languages and Odia languages.

¶¶ Bengali literature enriched in the second half of the nineteenth century when a renaissance took place in Bengal . Rammohan Roy, Pandit Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar , Bankimchandra Chattapadhay, Mychael Mashusudan Dutta and other Poets and Play writers composed various types of literature. Rabindranath came to flourish the Bengali literature with his vibrant genius and still now no other writers wasn’t found in Indian literature who is parral to him. Obviously, Tagore ,by his literature and multi-talented personality , overwhelmed the Eastern and Western world .
